Joiners and carpenters in Leeds

Internal doors that stick, a staircase that creaks on every step, skirting that needs replacing after a new floor, or a fitted wardrobe for an awkward alcove. Joinery covers everything timber in a house, and a lot of it is the finish people notice first.

We take on first-fix joinery for building projects, such as stud walls, floor joists and roof timbers, and second-fix work in finished rooms: doors, architrave, skirting, stairs and fitted furniture.

Scope of work

  • Internal and external doors hung
  • Skirting, architrave and window boards
  • Stud walls and partitions
  • Staircase repairs and new balustrades
  • Fitted wardrobes, shelving and alcove units
  • Floorboards, joist repairs and timber floors
  • Sash and casement window repairs

Common requests

  • Doors catching on the frame or dropped on their hinges
  • Spongy or creaking floorboards
  • Rot along the bottom of a door or window frame
  • Gaps along the skirting after a new floor has gone down

How the job is handled

Everything is measured before it is priced. For fitted furniture you get a simple drawing with sizes before anything is cut.

Older Leeds houses rarely have a straight wall or a level floor, so the work is scribed to fit the room as it actually is.

In Leeds

A lot of Leeds housing stock is Victorian and Edwardian, with deep skirting, panelled doors and timber sash windows. Where those are worth keeping, repair comes before replacement.

FAQs

Joinery & Carpentry questions

Can you match original Victorian skirting and architrave?

Often, yes. Many common profiles are still made, and where one is not, a close match can be sourced or made. Bring a photo or an offcut to the survey.

Will you fit doors I have bought?

Yes, as long as they suit the opening or can be trimmed to it. Fire doors go in with the correct frames, seals and closers.

Can a sash window be repaired rather than replaced?

In many cases. New cords, beads, draught-proofing and a repair to any rotten sections can bring an old sash back into use for far less than a replacement.

Is joinery included on extension jobs?

Yes. Roof timbers, stud walls, doors and finishing joinery are part of the building quote, so there is no separate joiner to find.
